PSNC consults on draft of modified MUR form

Pharmacists' views of a modified medicines use review form are being sought by the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee.

The draft form has been developed following a PSNC and Department of Health survey of how pharmacists, local pharmaceutical committees, GPs and primary care organisations thought the MUR paperwork could be improved. The form has been reduced to two A4 pages and the key details required by GPs, including “action plan’ and “next steps”, are included on the first page. In addition, all medicines are listed in a single column, there are fewer rows detailing patients’ medicines and clinical codes have been added to facilitate recording on GP systems.

The draft form and an example pre-MUR questionnaire which the PSNC has also developed are available from the PSNC website

Comments on the form should be submitted to Alastair Buxton (e-mail alastair.buxton@psnc.org.uk) by 28 February 2007.
