Pharmacist selected for leadership award
Tracy Savage, pharmaceutical adviser at Shropshire County Primary Care Trust and PCT support pharmacist in the department of medicines management at Keele University, has been selected by The Health Foundation to receive a leadership
fellows award.
Leadership fellows will be given two years of personalised coaching by
leadership development consultants. They will also participate in a series
of structured seminars and workshops.
The awards are in their third year and are presented to 16 individuals,
including pharmacists, nurses, doctors and managers, who are considered
to have the potential to become future leaders of the NHS and to make
major improvements to the quality of patient care in the UK.
“One of the things that appealed to me was the chance to network
[with other fellows] and to raise the profile of pharmacy, my PCT and
the university,” Ms
Savage told The Journal.
Sir Ian Carruthers, chief executive of the South West Strategic Health
Authority and patron of the leadership fellows award scheme, commented: “All
16 leadership fellows are skilled, motivated professionals who have displayed
impressive leadership potential and a dedication to improving the quality
of service delivered to patients.”
