NPA chief executive to leave for Phoenix group

John D’Arcy will leave the NPA |
John D'Arcy is to leave the National Pharmacy Association at the end of April to join the NPA member Phoenix group as retail commercial director. Mr D’Arcy has worked for the NPA for 16 years, and spent
the past 10 years as its chief executive.
NPA chairman Umesh Patel said: “John has brought tremendous energy,
commitment and passion to the NPA during his time with us. As chief executive
he has been an exceptional ambassador for the profession generally and
community pharmacy in particular. He leaves a modernised association,
enhanced both in its profile and its service offering. I know the staff
at Mallinson House will miss his open door policy and interest in the
contribution made by each and every one of them. We wish him every success
with his new venture.”
Mr D’Arcy told The Journal: “This is an opportunity to put
into practice a lot of what the NPA preaches. The challenge for pharmacy
is to see how we can take on board the blue-sky thinking and make it
a reality.”
Phoenix is a family-owned group that includes a national network of wholesalers,
the Numark marketing group and the Rowlands chain of 460 pharmacies.
Phoenix approached Mr D’Arcy to offer him the
position. |
