Chris Martin appointed to Welsh NHS Confederation

Chris Martin

Chris Martin

Chris Martin, a community pharmacist and chairman of Pembrokeshire Local Health Board, has been appointed to represent Mid and West Wales on the management committee of the Welsh NHS Confederation.

Mr Martin said that his aim is to ensure that the vital contribution that pharmacists and other health care professionals make is fully understood, recognised and appropriately funded by the NHS in Wales. He told The Journal: “When we look at options for changing health services, taking a whole systems approach, I will be very clear that pharmacists have a key role to play as medicines managers in that process.”

Mr Martin added that he strongly believes that, with the right support, the previously underused skill mix that many community pharmacists possess can be put to good use for the benefit of the profession and patients.
