Quarterly HCAI figures publishedThere were 42,625 cases of Clostridium difficile infection reported by NHS trusts in England in the first three quarters of 2006, a rise of 5.5 per cent over 2005. Data on meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus blood-stream infections indicate a 5.0 per cent fall. The Health Protection Agency says it will now publish surveillance figures each quarter. |
