Copy patients into letters

Patients should be automatically copied into letters sent between health professionals so that they are kept informed about their condition and may make better decisions about their care.

Health minister Rosie Winterton will write to various professional bodies and voluntary organisations to draw attention to the benefits of patients seeing these letters and asking them to meet to discuss implementation of the policy.

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society is not included in this initiative.
