The Council

Do members take their duties seriously?

From Mr J. E. Balmford, FRPharmS

The Council meeting on 15 February, regarding the future of our Royal Pharmaceutical Society, was the most important held in recent times. The detailed rules for the requirements under the Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians Order 2007 were decided. However, only 70 per cent of the Council were present and of the nine members absent, five are pharmacists.

When I was a Council member, it was rare for any member to be absent and, at the most, two might be. It seems to me that, because of the enlarged Council, there are members who do not take their responsibilities seriously; in that case they should resign.

In reporting Council meetings, it would help if some indication of the category of membership were given.

John E. Balmford
Past President, Royal Pharmaceutical Society
