Government launches respiratory hygiene campaign as part of preparation for pandemic flu

Posters to support a Government campaign to encourage good respiratory hygiene are being sent to NHS outlets including pharmacies, GP surgeries and health centres.

Lindsey Davies, the Department of Health’s national director of pandemic influenza preparedness, described the campaign as an important part of pre-pandemic influenza preparedness planning. “Good hygiene practice (both hand and respiratory) will have a major role to play in slowing the spread of pandemic influenza,” she says in a letter sent to health professionals.

Additional free copies of the posters can be obtained from the DoH’s publications orderline (tel 08701 555 455 or e-mail dh@prolog.uk.com) quoting code 279933.
