Commissioning

Act now or lose the opportunity for funding next year

From Mr P. A. N. Johnstone, MRPharmS

Practice-based commissioning organisations are entering the last phases of their planning process for 2007–08 and will be submitting bids for funding to primary care trusts shortly, if they have not done so already.

If pharmacists wish their issues and potential services to be considered next year, I would suggest they, or their local pharmaceutical committees, make contact with local PBC consortia immediately or the opportunity to be considered part of mainstream NHS activity will be gone for another year.

Peter Johnstone
Interim General Manager
Liverpool Health Care PBC Consortium
