More than 120 former University of Bath students and members of staff gathered for a reception at the House of Commons earlier this month to mark the launch of celebrations surrounding 100 years of pharmacy education in Bath.
The reception was hosted by Sandra Gidley MP (Lib Dem, Romsey), who graduated
with a pharmacy degree from the university in 1978.
The university is only 40 years old, but the department of pharmacy and
pharmacology can trace its roots back to the Bath College of Chemistry & Pharmacy
founded in 1907.
“This marks the start of our Bath pharmacy centenary celebrations,” said
Richard Guy, head of the department of pharmacy and pharmacology. “One
of our aims is to make contact with the majority of the 3,000 plus people
who have graduated with a pharmacy degree from Bath, in the hope that
many will join us at some or all of the events organised in Bath this
year.”
Celebratory activities are scheduled throughout 2007. The programme is
