Retail pharmacy

Hay fever market

Retail pharmacy summary

The hay fever market has continued to blossom. The category grew from £75m in June 2005 to £87.6m by June 2006 (IRI consumer retail sales).

According to Capibus, this is as a result of new allergy sufferers — in 2006, 23 per cent of adults bought a hay fever treatment compared with 19 per cent in 2005. A spokeswoman from UCB Pharma, the Zirtek product licence holder, said growth is expected to continue, fuelled by increased consumer awareness and the development of pharmacy services.
