Correction to the “Denatured alcohol” section of ‘Medicines, ethics and practice’

Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians are advised of a correction to ‘Medicines, ethics and practice: a guide for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians’ (30th edition, July 2006).

In Section 1.7, on “denatured alcohol” (p74), the second paragraph (headed “In Scotland”) refers to the revocation of earlier legislation by the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005. However, this Act has yet to be enacted by the Scottish Parliament and, until a commencement order comes into force, it will remain unlawful in Scotland to sell completely denatured alcohol (formerly known as mineralised methylated spirit) between 10pm on Saturday evening and 8am on the following Monday morning and to any person under the age of 14.
