Alliance Boots bid war over

Private equity company Terra Firma has withdrawn its interest in a possible take-over bid for Alliance Boots, leaving the way open for KKR and Alliance Boots executive deputy chairman Stefano Pessina to buy the company.

The KKR consortium bought a substantial block of Alliance Boots shares on the stock market early this week at a higher price than its original offer. As a result it increased its offer to £11.1bn, or £11.39 per share. After that acquisition, KKR and Mr Pessina owned almost 30 per cent of the company.
