Death of Statutory Committee member Bob Wood

Bob Wood, a member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s Statutory Committee for the past 12 years, has died.

Paying tribute to Mr Wood during the Statutory Committee’s meeting last week, the chairman, Lord Fraser of Carmyllie, QC, said that Mr Wood had been a much loved and valued colleague. He combined a considerable knowledge of pharmacy with an unimpeachable integrity and real perception. “So far as he was concerned, there was no compromise with the higher standards of the profession, and at the same time he was as forgiving and gentle as anyone I have ever had the privilege of working with.”

David Reissner, a lawyer who regularly represents pharmacists before the committee, said that Mr Wood always had incisive questions but his humanity would shine through.

The Society’s Secretary and Registrar, Ann Lewis, said that the profession would miss Mr Wood. He was a special person, and she endorsed all that had been said about him.
