Safety concern with IT delays

Senior NHS staff have concerns about a growing risk to patient safety with delays to the NHS IT programme, a study published online this week shows (BMJ Online First, 17 May 2007). The staff who were interviewed supported the programme.

However, the report says: “The lack of integration offered by interim applications has left senior trust staff questioning whether NHS-wide connectivity will ever be achieved.”
