PSNC presses for more nationally agreed services

Work is continuing at the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee to try to make the Department of Health agree to three more advanced pharmacy services that all accredited community pharmacists can provide if they wish.

Last week’s monthly PSNC meeting saw its service development subcommittee working on specifications for minor ailments, emergency hormonal contraception and chlamydia screening services at the advanced level.

“The next step is to discuss these with the DoH,” said PSNC head of professional development and local pharmaceutical committee services Mike King.

Work is also taking place to develop specifications for a seasonal influenza vaccination service at the enhanced level and a weight management service at the advanced level.

Elections Dhiren Bhatt has been elected vice-chairman of the PSNC. Steven Williams and Ash Soni were re-elected as chairmen of the funding and contract subcommittee and the service development subcommittee, respectively. Mark Collins was elected chairman of the LPC and implementation support subcommittee and Andy Murdock was elected chairman of the resource development and finance subcommittee.
