Two ministers responsible for pharmacy in Scotland

Responsibility for pharmacy in Scotland will be shared between two health ministers, a spokeswoman for the Scottish Executive Health Department confirmed this week.

The main lead for pharmacy will be Shona Robison MSP who is the Minister for Public Health (PJ, 26 May, p601).

However, for some pharmacy matters decisions will be made jointly with Nicola Sturgeon MSP who is Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing. The spokeswoman explained that the reason for the joint lead is that pharmacy is considered to be an important area.
