Membership of Society's Registration Appeals Committee is announced

The membership of the Society's new Registration Appeals Committee has been announced, following completion of members' training.

The names are set out in the Panel, each followed by a brief description of the appointee taken from the biographical information supplied by candidates.

The committee is one of four statutory committees established under the Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians Order 2007 (pharmacy’s Section 60 Order under the Health Act 1999). The function of the Registration Appeals Committee is to consider decisions taken by the Society’s Registrar which are “appealable registration decisions” for the purposes of the Order, Article 42 of the Order sets out a list of such decisions.

The membership of the other three committees — Investigating Committee, Disciplinary Committee and Health Committees — have already been announced (PJ,17 March, p326).

Registration Appeals Committee members

• Chairman (legally qualified): Siobhan Goodrich, barrister

• Deputy chairman (legally qualified): Geoffrey Pettigrew, solicitor

• Pharmacist members: Reema Caddies, clinical governance facilitator, Kirklees PCT, and healthcare pharmacist, Pharmapoint Ltd; Deborah Railton, pharmacist inspector, Commission for Social Care Inspection; Tony Theobald, retired academic pharmacist.

• Lay members: Michael Cann, fitness-to-practise adjudicator, General Medical Council and General Dental Council; Melanie Hawes, nurse; Paul Sommerfeld, member of General Osteopathic Council.

• Pharmacy technician members: Samantha Durant, senior pharmacy technician; Deborah Williams, deputy pharmacy manager.

• Reserve pharmacist member: Alison Hayes, community pharmacist.
