Hemant Patel is President again
For the first time in more than 65 years, the Council of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society has re-elected its President to serve a third consecutive term of office.
At the Council meeting on 6 June, Hemant Patel was re-elected unopposed.
He has been President since 2005 and was previously president in 1998–99.
In the election of the Vice-President, the successful candidate was Martin
Astbury, who has been a Council member since 2003. Gerald Alexander,
Vice-President for the past two years, did not seek re-election.
Andrew Gush, after only one year on the Council, was elected Treasurer.
The current Treasurer, John Jolley, was ineligible for
re-election, having served for three years,
In the election of a pharmacist Council member to work with the Officers
(in the absence of an immediate past-president), the successful candidate
was David Thomson, Council member for Scotland. He succeeds Martin Astbury,
the new Vice-President.
In the election of a lay member of Council to work with the Officers,
Phillida Entwistle was successful. She succeeds Bob Michell, who on his
re-election last year said that he would carry on for one more year only
because other lay members should have the opportunity to work with the
Officers.
