Regulations replace Byelaws

Regulations succeeding several sections of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's Byelaws came into force on 4 June after receiving the approval of the Privy Council.

The new Regulations, made under the Society’s Charter, had been submitted to the Privy Council for approval by the Council after the required 60-day gazetting period (PJ, 7 April, p408).

The new Regulations cover the interpretation of various words (Section 4), the remuneration of auditors (Section 5), the Society’s seal (Section 6), The Journal (Section 7), the museum (Section 8) and the Council’s powers in relation to codes, protocols and guidance (Section 9). The Regulations entirely supersede Sections VIII, X, XI, XIII, XVIII, XXV and XXVI of the existing Byelaws.

Three sections of the Regulations are already in existence. They cover the election of Council members (Section 1), appointed Council members (Section 2) and the national pharmacy boards (Section 3). The complete text of the Regulations and Byelaws can be accessed from the “History and governing documents” page of the Society’s website.
