Citric acid

Not all customers are drug misusers

From Mr B. Shooter, MRPharmS

I was disappointed to read letters in The Times last week from people justifiably deprecating the attitude of some pharmacists regarding the sale of 50g, or so, of citric acid for a delicious-sounding recipe for homemade elderberry-flower cordial. Just how many of our customers are using it for cutting heroin or whatever?

The letters detailed how people obtain supplies from health food shops or the internet to avoid being considered suspected drug dealers by pharmacy staff. Surely all that is needed is some basic staff training and an appropriate customer-centred standard operating procedure.
