NRT effective even without behavioural support

Smokers who use nicotine replacement therapy are more likely than those who do not to remain abstinent for at least six months after attempting to quit spontaneously (without additional behavioural support), according to research published online in Thorax (15 June). The association does not appear to be explained by a greater commitment to stop smoking, say the researchers.
