Hemant Patel, President of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, was among the guests at a recent dinner given by the Prince of Wales for leaders in the UK pharmaceutical world.
The event took place at Clarence House on 11 June 2007, hosted by the
prince as patron of International Health
Partners, a recently formed
charity
dedicated to providing medical aid
to communities in the developing world.
IHP acts as a distribution channel for donated, quality, in-date products.
It provides a bridge between drug, vaccine and medical suppliers and
individuals and organisations working in the developing world. Working
within World Health Organization guidelines, it only sends medicines
that are specifically needed and requested.
Thanking guests for their support, the prince said that IHP would be
nowhere without the backing of the health care industry.
In a letter to Mr Patel after the dinner, the charity’s president,
Anthony Dunnett, said that he particularly wanted to work more closely
with the pharmacist community in future. He believed that pharmacists
would be crucial to the success of a maternal and infant pack programme
launched by IHP during the dinner. |
