Recalls

Poor timing

From Ms A. Rickard, MRPharmS

The response to Roger Miles’s letter (PJ, 16 June, p705) by Ian Holloway (PJ, 23 June, p733) was reasonable as far as it went.

However, I believe that it is unacceptable for class 1 recalls to be sent to hospital pharmacists by fax late on Friday afternoon at a time when departments are stretched dealing with discharges in preparation for the coming weekend. This is a frequent occurrence that should be addressed.

Anne Rickard
Chief Pharmacist,
Warrington Hospital, Cheshire
