MAS registrations may lapse following updated directions

Registrations for the minor ailment service (MAS) in Scotland will start to lapse from 1 July 2007 for patients who have not used the service for 12 months.

However, registration lapses will not affect payment for MAS since it was previously agreed that payment will not fall below the level for the number of patients a pharmacy had registered on 31 March (PJ, 14 April, p416).

The provisions to allow this payment are one of the changes that have been made to the MAS directions, an updated version of which was published this week (PDF 560K).
