No staged pay rise for Wales
All NHS staff in Wales covered by Agenda for Change will receive the full 2.5 per cent pay increase recommended by the Independent Pay Review body.
This mirrors the situation
in Scotland (PJ, 17 March, p297) and contrasts
with the staged
increase announced for England (PJ, 10 March, p269).
In Wales, the payments will be backdated to cover the period since 1
April 2007.
Commenting on the rise, health minister Edwina Hart said: “This
will significantly help to improve staff morale within the NHS and clearly
demonstrates how much I value their hard work and dedication.” The
additional cost will be managed as an in-year pressure within the Health
and Social Services budget, she explained.
