NHS trust announces job cuts

Scarborough and North East Yorkshire Healthcare NHS Trust has announced that the equivalent of 600 full-time posts — a third of its workforce — are to be made redundant.

The trust has a cumulative deficit of £20.7m that will grow by £10.5m this year if nothing is done. Staff costs account for 70 per cent of trust expenditure. The trust has not yet said where the job cuts will fall, but has said that there will be no sacred cows.
