Anticoagulants and antiplatelets

Adding an oral anticoagulant to antiplatelet therapy does not reduce the likelihood of patients with peripheral arterial disease experiencing a major cardiovascular complication and increases the chance of a life-threatening bleed occurring, data from a study published in The New England Journal of Medicine show (2007;357:217).
