Opinion Leader commissioned to identify members' expectations

The President: solid commitment |
The Royal Pharmaceutical Society has awarded the research-based consultancy
Opinion Leader a contract to carry out important research among the organisation's
membership. The research will be designed to identify the needs, wants
and expectations of members and other stakeholders in the light of the
Government's decision to separate the Society's regulatory and professional
functions.
The results will be used by the Society’s Council to
inform the development of business models for a future professional body
as well as to inform future consultation
processes.
The Society says that, after a rigorous tendering process, Opinion
Leader was awarded the commission because it demonstrated considerable
experience
in the health, regulatory and membership organisation fields. The London-based
company has previously conducted research for the Department of Health,
the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists and the Healthcare Commission.
The Society’s President, Hemant Patel, said: “The commission
of this research underlines a solid commitment by the Society to fully
involve all stakeholders in decisions relating to the future of pharmacy.
At a time of great and rapid change we must understand the needs and
long-term ambitions of our members so that discussions to form a professional
body for pharmacy are based on evidence.
“Opinion Leader has a wealth of experience executing research projects
of this nature and has a genuine understanding of the core issues we
are addressing. I would encourage selected Society members and other
individuals from pharmacy bodies to engage fully in this process, which
is set to have a significant impact on the future of our professional
leadership.”
The Society began sending official written invitations to participate
in the research to individuals this week. The research programme will
take 12 weeks to conduct. |
