Agenda for change

Confidence in results

From Ms F. Mackenzie

I was heartened to read the comment about our long service awards, but I was sorry to read Catherine MacKenzie’s comments about Agenda for Change within NHS Forth Valley (PJ, 7 July, p18).

Although I would not comment on an individual position, I am aware that of the 12 nationally agreed profiles for pharmacy, we have jobs spread across 11 of these. All posts have also gone through the appropriate local and national consistency checking processes, the purpose of which is to give some additional rigour to the system.

On this basis, I think we can have a reasonable degree of confidence in the results and, of course, we have appropriate channels in place to deal with issues that have arisen as individuals receive their feedback. This is not to say, however, that individual disappointments in the application of a new, nationally negotiated and agreed pay structure are not understood.

Fiona Mackenzie
Chief Executive
Forth Valley NHS Board
