Bradshaw takes responsibility for professional regulation

Ben Bradshaw, Minister of State for Health Services, has been given responsibility for the regulation of health professionals and will steer the forthcoming Health and Social Care Bill (PJ, 14 July, p32) through the next session of Parliament.

The Bill will be used to create an independent body to take over the adjudication of disciplinary cases from professional regulators.

There will also be a single new regulator for health and adult social care (to be known as Ofcare) and the registration system for providers of health and adult social care services will be updated and extended to include NHS providers.
