Over 92 per cent pass Society's summer registration examination
The pass rate in the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's summer registration
examination this year is 92.7 per cent; 1,524 of 1,644 candidates were
successful (PDF 170K).
In the separate section of calculation questions, which candidates have
to pass in addition to passing the examination as a whole, 1,591 (96.8
per cent) of the candidates were successful.
The mean percentage scores for the different components of the examination
were: overall 84 per cent (range 39–100); closed book 84 per cent
(range 52–100); open book 83 per cent (range 0–100); calculations
89 per cent (range 0–100).
The mean percentage scores for the individual syllabus sections were:
section 1 (professional and legal practice) — part I (professional
practice of a pharmacy) 88 per cent, part II (legal aspects of providing
a pharmaceutical service) 80 per cent; section 2 (clinical and pharmaceutical
practice) — part I (clinical practice) 83 per cent, part II (pharmaceutical
aspects of practice) 87 per cent; section 3 (systems and procedures)
84 per cent.
Of this year’s 1,644 candidates, 1,540 were UK graduates or sandwich
course students, of whom 1,423 (92.4 per cent) passed and 117 (7.6 per
cent) failed.
The remaining 104 candidates were pharmacists from overseas seeking to
register via the adjudicating route. Of these, 101 (97.1 per cent) passed
and three (2.9 per cent) failed.
For 110 of the failed candidates, this examination was their first attempt.
For eight of them it was their second attempt, and for two it was their
third and final attempt.
