Hib catch-up campaign

A catch-up programme for young children who have not been immunised with the Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) vaccine will start in England on 10 September 2007.

The six-month campaign will target children born between 13 March 2003 and 3 September 2005, who were too young to have had a booster as part of the 2003 catch-up programme and too old to have received the new Hib/meningitis C booster vaccine introduced in September last year.

The Hib vaccine will be delivered through the pre-school booster, which will be temporarily changed to Infanrix-IPV+Hib (or alternatively Pediacel). Children in the target group who have already received their pre-school immunisations should be offered a further vaccination with Menitorix (Hib/MenC).
