Benevolent Fund

Message to members who are living in or near flood-affected areas
The recent floods have devastated the lives of thousands of people throughout Britain and it would be surprising if there were not some pharmacists whose homes or businesses have been among them.

With appropriate insurance cover, it is probable that most pharmacists will be able to recover their losses and repair any damage but it is important to consider the plight of those who may be elderly or vulnerable or the widows and widowers of former pharmacists who, through no fault of their own, may not be so well provided for and who may be glad of some additional help to put their lives and homes back together.

The trustees of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s Benevolent Fund have joined the Association of Charity Officers in issuing a press release to explain that help may be available to those most in need through their own professional charity.

If members know or hear of someone who they think could be eligible for help from the fund, they are asked to contact the Benevolent Fund office to discuss the matter (tel 01323 890135, e-mail benevolent.fund@rpsgb.org).

All applications (details need to be provided on application form) will be dealt with in strict confidence and assessed in accordance with established criteria guidelines.

An application will not necessarily guarantee an offer of financial support but every effort will be made to accommodate justifiable cases.
