OFT sends out medicines distribution questionnaire

The Office of Fair Trading has sent out a survey to a sample of pharmacy contractors and dispensing doctors to obtain further information for its market study into the distribution of medicines in the UK. The Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee is encouraging the contractors who have been contacted by the OFT to take the time to respond to the questionnaire.

According to the PSNC, some of the questions will incorporate commercially sensitive information, such as dispensing volumes and discounts. “The OFT has stated that it intends to publish aggregated figures from its survey in its report later this year. If it is necessary for the OFT to refer to specific comments or information submitted, they will contact the relevant contractors as a courtesy in advance of publication,” the PSNC says.
