Regulation

Are current regulations so unsound?

From Mr M. J. Shucksmith, MRPharmS

The letter (PJ, 25 August, p205) from the Secretary and Registrar, Ann Lewis, states that “sound regulation … helps to make Britain a safer place for people to take medicines”.

Are current regulations so unsound, and the risks in taking medicines so great, to justify the fundamental knee-jerk changes we are enduring?

Will the endless ticking of boxes, data collection and overbearing scrutiny of our activities produce a “safer Britain”?

We are belittled by such implications.

M. J. Shucksmith
Fordingbridge, Hampshire
