Society recruits Pharmacy 2020 project champions to support members
Eighteen 2020 champions have now been recruited by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society. Many of them were previously engaged as branch continuing professional development facilitators. The champions will support the branches in England, Scotland and Wales to encourage members to take part in the Pharmacy
2020 consultation, which will be launched on 6 October 2007 and will run for 12 weeks.
Fourteen champions recently attended a training day in Leeds to equip
them with the skills to undertake the role. They will run Pharmacy 2020
sessions at their local branches, engaging with members to help pharmacy
to consolidate its position within health care and pave the way for the
pharmacists of the future, the Society says.
Sue Jones, Pharmacy 2020 lead champion, said: “Pharmacists are
being given the opportunity to shape their own future through the Pharmacy
2020 programme, and this initiative will encourage members, through the
branch and regional networks, to have their say on what they want the
profession to look like by the year 2020. I encourage all pharmacists
to embrace this opportunity, to get involved and make a positive contribution
to the profession.”
Pharmacists wanting details on holding a Pharmacy 2020 meeting at their
branches should contact the membership team on 020 7572 2330.
