People’s view of NHS sought

A public consultation on the future of the NHS started this week with nine events held across Britain involving over 1,000 members of the public, patients and clinicians.

Our NHS, our future” is being led by health minister Lord Darzi and is seeking to find out the public’s views on how health care can be improved and priorities for action.

Pharmacist Gill Hawksworth attended the event in York, where she was representing Kirklees Primary Care Trust. Speaking after the event, she said: “Pharmacists need to be aware that this consultation is happening. It will address issues around access, well-being and self care.”

She suggested that pharmacists have a role to play in each of these areas and that the feedback given to existing and possible future pharmacy services during the York event had been positive.
