Welsh medicines information to trial out-of-hours service

Access to medicines information will be available in the evenings and at weekends for health care professionals in Wales as part of a trial being run by the Welsh medicines information service.

Information pharmacists will be available from 5pm until 9pm from Monday to Friday and from 9am until 4.30pm on Saturday and Sunday. The trial will run until 30 November. Pharmacists and out-of-hours doctors can call 07623 927798 to bleep a long-range pager held by an information pharmacist at one of the Welsh hospitals taking part in the trial.

Callers will need to ensure that they enter a full telephone number, including dialling code, when requested. The information pharmacist will then call them back as soon as they receive the message. All enquiries that would have been handled by local medicines information departments can be handled by the service.
