MRSA pilot study in Scotland

NHS Quality Improvement Scotland has recommended that a pilot study be set up in a number of hospitals within NHS Scotland to assess whether screening for meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in all patients who are admitted is effective in reducing MRSA infections.

The recommendation is one of several made in a Health Technology Assessment on the clinical and cost effectiveness of screening for MRSA in patients admitted to Scottish hospitals.
