Retention fees

Retention fees 2008

Essential that we retain the commitment of the BPSA executive

From Mr A. Gush, MRPharmS

Heena Bhakta makes helpful observations that reflect the unique position of preregistration trainees in her letter entitled “Financially crippling students” (PJ, 6 October, p381). The submissions to the consultation exercise (which closed at midnight on 3 October) are now being analysed independently.

I am confident that these issues were raised by members of the British Pharmaceutical Students’ Association when making its formal contribution to the consultation and they will be considered by the Society’s Council in taking a final decision on the fees for 2008.

The Council will take its final decisions regarding the 2008 fees, including the preregistration year and registration examination fees, on 1 November 2007.

We have established a strong working relationship with the BPSA over recent years and it is essential that we retain the commitment of the BPSA executive and members who are, after all, the future of the profession and those upon whom we will rely to take the profession forward in years to come.

Andrew Gush
Treasurer
Royal Pharmaceutical Society
