Nobel Prize for Medicine

A professor of mammalian genetics at Cardiff University has won the 2007 Nobel Prize for Medicine. Sir Martin Evans is one of three joint winners.

The Nobel Assembly announced that Sir Martin won the prize, along with Mario Capecchi of the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, and Oliver Smithies of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, for their discoveries of “principles for introducing specific gene modifications in mice by the use of embryonic stem cells”.
