Boots launches health advice website

A new health advice website has been launched by Boots in partnership with the BMJ Group, publisher of the BMJ.

The website seeks to provide evidence-based information to help patients understand a range of medical conditions. The information is based on the BMJ Clinical Evidence series — a collection of systematic reviews available on subscription. The Boots site is directed at anyone seeking health information and is available free of charge.

Commenting on the new initiative, Angela Chalmers, pharmacy manager at Boots’s Holloway Road branch in London, said: “I signpost the website to patients who come in asking for advice. I had a woman who was really worried about her forthcoming hip operation and wanted more information. When she had a look at the website she came back and told me she felt very reassured.

“All the information from the BMJ is credible and unbiased so you know that you can trust it.”
