Vildagliptin improves glycaemic control in type 2 diabetes

Twice as many patients taking vildagliptin, a selective dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitor, as those taking placebo achieve HbA1c levels below 7 per cent. And four times as many patients taking metformin and vildagliptin achieved target glycaemic levels as those taking placebo.

The results of the study of 544 patients with type 2 diabetes were presented at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes conference in Amsterdam last month.
