Controlled drugs

New CD record sheets

From Mr M. Kattan, MRPharmS

I have recently ordered new sheets from the National Pharmacy Association for my Controlled Drugs register that will become legal in February 2008.

On receiving these I noted that one column had been split into two to cover whether proof of identification was requested and whether it was shown.

However the column requiring the pharmacist’s details was not included and it seems that this will no longer be a requirement by the Department of Health.

I have taken this up with the NPA but they can only tell me that this was the requirement by the DoH after long consultation.

I cannot understand this as the DoH should require some form of governance and an audit trail but this will no longer be mandatory.

I can, of course, put in my details somewhere but where will the check be?
