New medicines information strategy launched by network

Medicines information pharmacists are to shape their services around a new strategy document: “Effective information for managing medicines”.

Launching the document (PDF, 2.15Mb) at the UK medicines information network (UKMi) annual seminar, held in London last week in association with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, UKMi chairman Eilish Smith said that the network’s strategy was last updated more than five years ago, and she encouraged pharmacists to use the new strategy to develop MI services in their local area.

Within the strategy UKMi aims to:

•  Reflect a patient-focused NHS
•  Develop the service to health care providers
•  Support health care staff development
•  Support NHS commissioning and planning bodies
•  Collaborate effectively with other organisations at a national level
