Newly qualified pharmacists were welcomed to the profession and presented
with a certificate at a ceremony held on 24 October at the Scottish
Office of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society in Edinburgh. Certificates
were presented by Rose Marie Parr, chairman of the Scottish Pharmacy
Board.
A presentation by Hemant Patel, President of the Society, gave an overview
of the period of critical change in the profession and the exciting opportunities
ahead, while Dr Parr spoke about the future of pharmacy.
Anna Thain, winner of the Pfizer award for the best preregistration pharmacy
project in Scotland 2007, gave a presentation on her winning project.
At a dinner on the same day members of the Scottish Pharmacy Board and
staff of the Scottish Office said goodbye to Ann Lewis. Miss Lewis, who
retired recently, had served nine years as Secretary and Registrar at
the Society and 10 years on the Society’s Council, including two
years as President.
Dr Parr presented Miss Lewis with a gift of Edinburgh crystal on behalf
of members of the Society in Scotland.
