Views are being sought in the US on the possibility of establishing a behind-the-counter class of medicines that can only be sold after personal intervention by a pharmacist. Any such medicines would previously have been restricted to supply on medical prescription.

A public meeting on the matter was held by the US Food and Drug Administration on 14 November 2007.
