A national minor ailments scheme for Wales may be on the horizon, Phil Parry, chief executive of Community Pharmacy Wales, said this week.

At the organisation’s annual dinner in Cardiff, Mr Parry said that CPW was talking to the Welsh Assembly Government about development of a national minor ailments scheme.

He said: “This is now on the agenda and under consideration.”

He also said that CPW was pressing for a national arrangement to allow the provision of emergency supplies of medicines on the NHS under a patient group direction.
