Diclofenac fails to speed recovery

Neither diclofenac nor spinal manipulative therapy reduces the time taken to recover from acute lower-back pain, according to a Lancet study (2007;370:1638).

The community-based study of 240 patients with lower-back pain of less than six weeks’ duration showed no significant differences between diclofenac and placebo or between physiotherapist spinal manipulation and sham manipulation.
